What are we doing now??

hopefully, it's Chamber music for us all

So, if we were all alive when Beethoven was alive, we maybe would have gone to a concert hall and seen him play his own music. The same could be true for Chopin, or Clara Schumann, or Paganini or Liszt - you get the idea. When they were writing, they were contemporaries of their audience. which is kind of a fascinating idea. Their music was new music, and as such, it was a bit more relevant to everyone than it is now - 200 years (more or less) later. We have lost some of that relevance, but the music is still fanstastic, and we still want to come hear it live, right?

So our whole deal at Giocosa is firstly to provide a concert of the highest caliber of performance, while also keeping the repertoire relevant, and the performances interesting and fun. We do that in as many ways as we can imagine, from movies and specially created hosts to recreations of composer's house parties and staging and set elements. That part changes with every show. In keeping with the idea of relevance, and to make sure that we are hearing from as many voices as possible, we  program living composers, women composers and/or underrepresented composers on every program as well. In general, our programs include something you may not have heard before as well as an established masterwork. We aim to be unashamedly entertaining and definitely not stuffy,  fancy, or exclusive.

If you don't know us yet, you should totally come check out a concert. This is music for all of the Cape, all year round, and we have a lot of fun. We'll see you in the hall!
